Job Description

The Hospital Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a senior executive responsible for overseeing the daily business operations, administrative functions, and support services within a healthcare facility. Reporting directly to the CEO, the COO plays a vital role in ensuring operational efficiency and financial sustainability by managing all non-clinical staff and departments. This position is essential in providing clinical teams with the necessary resources to deliver high-quality patient care, while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and driving continuous performance improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Management:
Oversee all non-clinical departments including Human Resources, Finance and Billing, Information Technology (IT), Facilities Management, Procurement, Supply Chain, Legal Affairs, Audit, Social Services, Training and Education for non-clinical staff, Marketing and Sales, Corporate Panels, and General Support Services. Ensure these departments operate smoothly and align with the hospital’s overall objectives.

Strategic Planning:
Translate the hospital’s strategic plans into actionable operational goals. Focus on improving efficiency, controlling costs, and enhancing revenue streams to support the facility’s financial health.

Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure that all non-clinical operations adhere to relevant local, state, and federal regulations, as well as accreditation requirements. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes and implement necessary adjustments promptly.

Performance Improvement:
Analyze financial and operational data to identify opportunities for process redesign and resource optimization. Implement cost-reduction strategies without compromising service quality.

Leadership and Governance:
Provide strong leadership and mentorship to non-clinical staff and department heads. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high performance across all teams.

Emergency Planning:
Lead business continuity planning efforts and oversee the implementation of emergency management protocols. Ensure the hospital remains operational and resilient during crises or unexpected disruptions.

Required Qualifications

Education:
A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Finance, or a related field is required.

Experience:
Candidates must have between 5 to 10 years of senior leadership experience in operations management, preferably within a healthcare setting. Proven ability to manage complex organizational functions is essential.

Core Competencies:
Strong leadership skills, financial acumen, strategic planning expertise, and proficiency in business technology are critical. The ability to communicate effectively with medical staff, board members, and external stakeholders is also necessary.

Communication:
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills are required to engage and collaborate with diverse groups within and outside the organization.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

A Master’s degree such as an MBA or MHA is preferred, providing enhanced capabilities to lead complex healthcare operations. The position offers a competitive hourly pay rate ranging from Rs1,200,000 to Rs1,600,000. This role requires in-person attendance at the healthcare facility to ensure hands-on leadership and direct operational oversight.
