Biomedical Engineer / Technologist

Job Description
Riphah International University is seeking a qualified Biomedical Engineer/Technologist to manage, maintain, and troubleshoot medical equipment across its healthcare facilities. The ideal candidate should have strong technical knowledge of biomedical devices, experience in equipment installation, calibration, and maintenance, and a solid understanding of safety standards and regulatory compliance. The role requires effective coordination with healthcare staff and vendors, strong problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication and time-management skills to ensure the reliable operation of critical medical equipment. Candidates with at least two years of relevant experience and professional certifications will be preferred.

Responsibilities
Maintain, calibrate, and repair biomedical and medical equipment, ensuring all devices function safely and reliably.
Identify, diagnose, and troubleshoot technical faults in equipment such as patient monitors, ECG machines, ventilators, infusion pumps, and laboratory devices.
Read and interpret technical manuals and documentation to inform repair and maintenance procedures.
Coordinate with healthcare professionals and vendors to schedule routine maintenance, upgrades, and equipment replacements.
Ensure compliance with biomedical safety standards and regulatory requirements throughout all equipment handling processes.
Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, equipment inventory, calibration schedules, and service reports.
Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and emergencies, providing technical support to minimize downtime in healthcare operations.
Assist in managing equipment procurement processes by researching and evaluating new biomedical technologies and vendors.
Participate in audits and inspections related to biomedical equipment and safety protocols.
Implement best practices for equipment handling to extend lifespan and maximize operational efficiency.
Support training initiatives for healthcare staff on the correct use and basic troubleshooting of biomedical devices.
