The Hospital Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a senior executive responsible for managing the day-to-day business operations, administrative functions, and support services of a healthcare facility. Reporting to the CEO, this role focuses on operational efficiency, financial sustainability, and non-clinical staff management, ensuring that clinical staff have the necessary resources to provide patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Operations Management: Oversee non-clinical departments, including Human Resources, Finance/Billing, Information Technology (IT), Facilities Management, Procurement, Supply Chain, Legal matters, Audit, Social Services, Training & Education of Non-Clinical ambit, Marketing & Sales, Corporate Panels and General Support Services.
• Strategic Planning: Integrate strategic plans into operational goals, focusing on efficiency, cost containment, and revenue generation.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all non-clinical operations adhere to local, state, and federal regulations and accreditation standards.
• Performance Improvement: Analyze financial and operational data to redesign processes, optimizing resources and reducing costs.
• Leadership and Governance: Lead and mentor non-clinical staff and department heads, fostering a culture of accountability and high performance.
• Emergency Planning: Lead business continuity planning and emergency management protocols.

Qualifications and Skills

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Finance, or a related field; Master’s degree (MBA/MHA) is preferred.
• Experience: Generally requires 5–10 years of senior leadership experience in operations management, preferably within a healthcare system.
• Core Competencies: Strong leadership, financial acumen, strategic planning, and expertise in business technology.
• Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with medical staff, board members, and external stakeholders.
