About the Role

We are supporting a Tier‑1 global consulting firm on a high‑impact engagement with Malaysia’s largest mobile telco. The team is seeking an experienced Finance Consultant from the telecommunications industry who can step in immediately to strengthen financial planning and support multiple business and procurement stakeholders.

This role is designed for someone who can quickly understand telco cost structures, challenge assumptions, build driver‑based budgets, and provide clear financial guidance to both technical and commercial teams.

As the Finance Consultant, you will:

  • Lead financial activities including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and audit support within a telco environment.
  • Develop driver‑based budgets tied to network, procurement, and operational cost drivers.
  • Review existing budgets and redesign models to align with business and network requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with the procurement team to validate commercial assumptions, vendor spend, and network‑related cost structures.
  • Partner with business teams to explain financial impacts, challenge proposals, and provide recommendations on what is feasible and financially viable.
  • Consolidate and prepare financial insights for senior stakeholders, supporting decision‑making within short timelines.
  • Provide oversight and financial governance across project expenditures.

The ideal candidate must have below skills and experience:

  • Strong finance background from the telecom or telecom‑infrastructure sector (MNOs, tower companies, network‑heavy environments).
  • Solid experience in financial reporting, auditing, budgeting, FP&A, and cost modeling.
  • Ability to build and review driver‑based budgeting models.
  • Must be comfortable speaking with technical and commercial stakeholders (network, procurement, business teams).
  • Experienced in advising on what is financially possible, what is not, and how to structure cost‑efficient models.
  • Immediate availability and willingness to travel frequently in Malaysia.
  • SEA‑based candidates only (visa and travel fully covered).

Why This Project?

  • Opportunity to work directly with a Tier‑1 consulting firm and Malaysia’s largest telco.
  • High‑visibility role with meaningful impact on financial and operational decisions.
  • Competitive USD day rate
  • Immediate, fast‑moving engagement with potential extension

If you are an experienced Finance professional from the telco space, available immediately, and open to flying to Malaysia next week, please share your updated resume to [email protected] or DM for priority consideration.

Please bear with me — due to the urgency of this role, I will only be arranging an urgent briefing call with candidates who are shortlisted. Thank you.
