Agay Barho is seeking a highly skilled Credit Risk Manager to join its team in Karachi, Pakistan, to lead and oversee the companys investment risk management activities. This role demands strong expertise in credit risk assessment, regulatory compliance, portfolio management, and risk mitigation strategies. The selected candidate will work closely with internal teams and report directly to the Country Director. Although this position involves substantial responsibility for guiding risk management efforts across the investment lifecycle, it does not include managing a team. The Credit Risk Manager will develop and implement comprehensive risk management systems tailored to Agay Barhos diverse investment portfolio, ensuring alignment with all relevant policies and regulatory frameworks. The candidate will play a critical role in identifying, evaluating, and mitigating various types of risks that could impact the organizations financial security and sustainable growth. The role also encompasses the responsibilities of the Environmental and Social (E&S) specialist. The Credit Risk Manager will ensure the effective application of Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) frameworks to uphold sustainable investment practices. This involves ongoing review and promotion of ESMS standards throughout the organization, focusing on compliance and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will bring a minimum of three years of experience in financial risk or investment functions, supported by a relevant bachelors degree in management, finance, risk, or accounting, positioning them as a pivotal asset in enhancing Agay Barho's risk oversight and governance capabilities.
Responsibilities
 

  • Develop, promote, and implement a comprehensive Investment Risk Management System tailored to Agay Barhos investments across the entire investment lifecycle.
  • Lead day-to-day investment risk management activities, including risk identification, prioritization, register management, action planning, and ongoing portfolio monitoring to mitigate potential risks.
  • Review and analyze investment business cases to minimize credit and portfolio risks by recommending actionable plans and overseeing their effective implementation.
  • Establish, maintain, and continuously monitor compliance and governance policies, controls, and procedures to ensure strict adherence to all regulatory requirements and internal standards.
  • Conduct real-time risk assessments for new investment proposals, ensuring they comply with company policies, applicable laws, and regulations from submission to settlement.
  • Undertake post-investment risk monitoring activities to manage and control overall portfolio risk, ensuring long-term investment security and performance.
  • Review all investment documentation meticulously to confirm completeness, accuracy, and conformity with regulatory and internal guidelines.
  • Continuously evaluate and enhance risk compliance and governance frameworks by incorporating best practices and providing regular updates and training to the investment team.
  • Apply diverse financial, operational, and investment risk management techniques, including operational due diligence and background checks on investments and stakeholders.
  • Perform thorough due diligence on principals, directors, shareholders, and investments to prevent and mitigate associated risks effectively.
  • Promote a strong risk culture by coaching and guiding teams regarding risk management processes, policies, and compliance requirements.
  • Conduct periodic audits of investment records and documentation to validate compliance with laws, regulations, and company policies; support internal and external audit processes as required.
  • Ensure all investment procedures comply fully with relevant legislation and Agay Barhos Investment Policy, maintaining organized records of compliance activities and risk reviews.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) framework to ensure sustainable investment practices are integrated throughout the organization.
  • Monitor and promote adherence to ESMS policies across departments, identifying non-compliance instances and recommending effective corrective actions.
  • Regularly review and update the ESMS framework to improve environmental and social risk management continuously.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Country Director related to investment risk management and sustainable governance.
