Position Summary

To supervise the provision of quality care across outpatient and inpatient medical services in accordance with updated medical knowledge, MSF protocols, organizational values, and universal hygiene standards to improve patients' and beneficiaries' health outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate, assess and supervise the proper execution of medical activities in collaboration with the Medical Activity Manager (MAM), adhering to MSF protocols and analyzing patient health data.
  • Coordinate and monitor the daily work plan for Medical Doctors (MDs), Anesthetists, Gynecologists, and other team members under your responsibility.
  • Participate in ward rounds with MDs to ensure patient management aligns strictly with MSF protocols and guidelines.
  • Participate in project follow-up, supervising medical activities to ensure objectives are met and escalating operational challenges to the technical referent promptly.
  • Contribute to monthly reporting in accordance with guidelines (e.g., monthly medical reports, Situational Representatives, statistical reports, mortality reviews, and rational drug prescription audits).
  • Identify non-medical support needs (material, infrastructure, transport) and report them to the line manager.
  • Lead national staff health initiatives, ensuring full implementation of staff health policies, sick leave management, new staff orientations, quarterly refresher sessions with Medical Coordinator Support, preventive measures, safe working environments, and emergency action plans.
  • Ensure Medical Incidents (MIs) are properly reported via the online MI reporting system and in line with organizational policy.
  • Exercise direct supervisory responsibility over MDs, Gynecologists, and Anesthetists in accordance with the project organogram.
  • Participate in shift rotations, covering for Medical Doctors during staffing gaps and acting on behalf of the MAM during their absence.
  • Manage patient referrals, ensuring all transfers comply strictly with the project referral policy.
  • Facilitate the use of the telemedicine network, with support from the MAM, for complex clinical cases requiring specialist consultations.
  • Support the MAM in planning and delivering clinical training for MDs and other medical staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Lead and conduct morbidity and mortality reviews for clinical cases across supported facilities.
  • Desirable – Previous MSF experience.
  • Desirable - Experience in preparing and presenting written reports and medical statistics.
