This position is focused on upholding the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance across project sites within the grid, transmission, or construction sectors. The successful candidate will play a critical role in enforcing client-specific safety policies, delivering training, conducting inspections, and promoting a strong safety culture among all personnel. The role demands active participation in safety audits, incident investigations, and continuous improvement efforts to ensure a safe and compliant working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Enforce client-specific safety policies and procedures at project sites to maintain compliance and safety standards.
- Conduct safety briefings for labor teams on live area protocols before work commencement.
- Ensure strict adherence to the Permit to Work (PTW) system when working in live zones.
- Implement Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures as directed by the grid in-charge.
- Deliver internal behavioral safety training sessions for workers and staff.
- Regularly inspect hand and power tools, following tagging and inspection protocols outlined in the HSE Plan.
- Develop and maintain Job Safety Analyses (JSA) tailored to specific scopes of work.
- Conduct site inductions for all new employees and visitors to ensure awareness of safety requirements.
- Maintain a safe work environment in line with the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) plan.
- Prepare and submit detailed monthly and quarterly HSE reports to clients.
- Ensure full implementation and adherence to the company’s EHS policy on site.
- Perform scheduled and surprise site inspections to assess HSE compliance and conduct safety audits.
- Lead HSE training sessions, safety meetings, and emergency response drills.
- Monitor and enforce consistent adherence to safety protocols by all employees.
- Guide team members on workplace safety best practices.
- Investigate workplace accidents and environmental incidents, documenting findings comprehensively.
- Coordinate regular HSE audits and site inspections, ensuring corrective actions are completed promptly to meet audit targets.
- Organize weekly HSE meetings with site personnel to discuss safety issues and improvements.
- Enforce strict policies on the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Monitor operations for compliance with environmental legal standards.
- Promote a safety-first culture through ongoing counseling and HSE training programs.
- Provide continuous support to resolve and close out HSE-related observations and issues.
- Identify potential safety hazards and collaborate with the site execution team for timely resolution.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a health, safety, and environmental role within the grid, transmission, or construction industry.
- NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) certification.
- IOSH certification.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse teams and stakeholders.
This is a full-time, on-site role requiring a committed professional dedicated to maintaining and enhancing workplace safety standards across all project activities.
