About the Role


 

To manage, supervise, and authorize export trade finance transactions processed under OGI/OGII while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, international trade rules, bank policies, and operational risk standards. The incumbent is responsible for overseeing the timely and accurate processing of export transactions, providing operational guidance to the team, and ensuring high standards of customer service and regulatory compliance.


 

Job Responsibilities

Export Operations Management

  • Supervise day-to-day export trade finance operations under OGI/OGII.
  • Review and authorize export transactions processed by team members.
  • Ensure timely processing of export Letters of Credit, Documentary Collections, Export Bills, and Open Account transactions.
  • Verify export documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with applicable regulations and international rules.
  • Scrutinize export documents presented under Letters of Credit (LCs), Documentary Collections, and other trade finance arrangements to ensure compliance with the terms and conditions of the credit and applicable international rules.
  • Monitor export proceeds realization, overdue cases, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate with branches, corporate banking teams, correspondent banks, and customers to resolve operational issues.


 

Authorization & Control

  • Act as the authorized checker for export trade finance transactions in the trade processing system.
  • Ensure maker-checker controls are strictly followed.
  • Review SWIFT messages prior to authorization.
  • Validate transaction details, customer instructions, limits, approvals, and supporting documentation.
  • Escalate exceptions, discrepancies, and operational risks to senior management.


 

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with central bank regulations, foreign exchange regulations, AML/KYC requirements, sanctions screening, and internal policies.
  • Ensure adherence to international trade rules, including UCP 600, ISBP, URC 522, and other applicable ICC publications.
  • Identify operational risks and implement effective controls to minimize errors and losses.
  • Support internal, external, regulatory, and compliance audits.


 

Team Supervision

  • Supervise and guide export operations staff.
  • Allocate work and monitor daily productivity.
  • Review staff performance and provide coaching and technical support.
  • Conduct on-the-job training for new and existing team members.
  • Promote continuous improvement and operational excellence.


 

Customer & Stakeholder Management

  • Provide timely responses to customer and branch inquiries.
  • Maintain effective relationships with business units, relationship managers, and correspondent banks.
  • Resolve customer complaints related to export transactions within agreed service standards.


 

Reporting & MIS

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly management reports.
  • Monitor operational KPIs, pending transactions, turnaround times, and exception reports.
  • Analyze trends and recommend process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.


 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, Banking, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Professional certifications such as CDCS, CITF, or CSDG are preferred.


 

Required Skills

  • 5–10 years of experience in Trade Finance Operations with significant exposure to export processing.
  • At least 2–3 years of supervisory or authorization experience.
  • Hands-on experience with SWIFT, core banking systems, and trade finance platforms.


 

Preferred Skills

  • Export Letters of Credit.
  • Documentary Collections.
  • Export Bills for Collection and Negotiation.
  • Foreign exchange regulations.
  • ICC Rules (UCP 600, ISBP, URC 522).
  • SWIFT message formats related to export trade finance.
