About the job
Role: Public Policy Advisor (Freelance)

At Humiint, we help forward-thinking businesses engage with public policy in a strategic, informed, and impactful way. Whether it's understanding upcoming regulation, building relationships with key government stakeholders, or shaping narratives that align with public interests—policy intelligence is now a business essential.

We’re expanding our expert network and seeking experienced Public Policy Advisors (Freelance) to support our clients in interpreting legislative developments, advising on regulatory compliance, and guiding external engagement strategies. From fast-scaling tech startups to global nonprofits, your insights will help clients make smarter decisions in politically and socially dynamic environments.

This role is perfect for experienced policy professionals who want to work across multiple sectors and clients—without being tied to a single employer. If you've advised organizations on how to navigate legislation, manage government relationships, or shape public perception through policy—you’ll thrive here. Ideal for policy consultants, legal analysts, former public sector leaders, or regulatory affairs advisors.

Your responsibilities may include:

Monitoring and interpreting legislative, regulatory, and policy developments at the local, state, federal, and/or international level
Advising clients on public policy trends and their impact on operations, product strategy, or compliance
Supporting policy positioning, stakeholder mapping, and government relations strategies
Drafting policy briefs, white papers, comment letters, or advocacy materials
Advising on outreach strategies to engage with elected officials, regulatory agencies, or industry bodies
Collaborating with legal, compliance, and communications teams to align messaging and positioning
Helping clients navigate public hearings, lobbying efforts, and coalition building when needed
Providing policy updates, alerts, and strategic guidance to executive teams and boards

Required qualities may include:

Proven experience in public policy, government relations, or legislative affairs
Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks in one or more sectors (e.g., technology, healthcare, energy, finance, labor, or education)
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to synthesize complex information for executive audiences
Experience working with government agencies, trade associations, or advocacy organizations
Familiarity with policy tools, databases, and monitoring platforms (e.g., FiscalNote, Quorum, LexisNexis)
Previous consulting or fractional experience is a strong plus
Bonus: Knowledge of international or cross-border regulatory issues, especially in data, privacy, AI, or ESG
