Job Description

Riphah International University seeks a dedicated Deputy Manager for its Information Services Department to oversee and enhance library operations according to international standards. This key role requires expertise in circulation, cataloguing, and management of both digital and print resources, ensuring efficient delivery of library services that support academic and research excellence. The ideal candidate holds a Master's or M.Phil degree in Library and Information Science or Information Management from an HEC recognized university and brings at least six years of practical experience in a university library setting. This position demands strong skills in computer applications to manage library automation systems, digital databases, and to integrate emerging technologies for online information services. The Deputy Manager champions communication and problem-solving to address the diverse information needs of faculty, students, and staff. The role includes supporting collection development, promoting information literacy, maintaining accurate records, and driving continuous improvements in library services. While this role does not manage a team, it plays a pivotal part in coordinating activities to align library practices with evolving educational requirements and institutional compliance standards.
Responsibilities
 

  • Oversee daily library operations including circulation, cataloguing, acquisition, and management of digital and print resources to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Implement and maintain international library standards and best practices to optimize library functions and enhance user experience.
  • Manage and upgrade library automation systems and digital databases to improve access and retrieval of information resources.
  • Coordinate online information services and integrate emerging technologies to expand resource availability and accessibility.
  • Collaborate proactively with faculty, students, and staff to understand and fulfill their academic and research information requirements with effective communication and support.
  • Support collection development initiatives by evaluating and selecting materials aligned with curriculum and research priorities.
  • Design and facilitate information literacy programs to enhance users research skills and familiarity with available library resources.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of library activities, and prepare detailed reports to inform continuous improvement efforts.
  • Ensure full compliance with institutional policies, copyright regulations, and intellectual property standards related to library resources.
  • Foster a welcoming and user-friendly library environment that encourages active engagement with both digital and physical information collections.
