JOB DESCRIPTIONPakistan Studies (P.St) Teacher – Grade 8 & Grade 10

1. Job Purpose

The Pakistan Studies Teacher is responsible for planning, teaching, assessing, and continuously improving the teaching and learning of Pakistan Studies for Grade 8 and Grade 10 according to the Sindh Board curriculum, prescribed syllabus, learning outcomes, and examination requirements.

The teacher is expected to develop students' understanding of the history, geography, culture, constitutional development, political and economic structure, natural resources, and national development of Pakistan, while developing their ability to interpret information, construct logical answers, use evidence, and perform effectively in board examinations.

2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Curriculum & Syllabus Management

The teacher shall:

• Study and maintain an up-to-date understanding of the Sindh Board Pakistan Studies syllabus for Grade 8 and Grade 10.
• Prepare an annual teaching plan before the commencement of the academic year.
• Divide the syllabus into:
• Annual syllabus plan
• Term/Unit-wise syllabus
• Monthly syllabus targets
• Weekly teaching plans
• Daily lesson objectives
• Ensure timely completion of the prescribed syllabus without compromising conceptual understanding.
• Map teaching content with the prescribed learning outcomes/SLOs and examination requirements.
• Identify important topics, concepts, dates, personalities, geographical features, constitutional developments, and terminology requiring repeated reinforcement.
• Maintain a record of syllabus coverage and submit progress reports to the HOD/Academic Office.

3. Teaching & Learning Responsibilities

The teacher shall:

• Deliver structured and purposeful lessons according to the approved timetable.
• Begin each lesson with clearly defined learning objectives.
• Explain historical and geographical concepts in a manner appropriate to the students' age and academic level.
• Use maps, timelines, charts, photographs, primary/secondary sources, documentaries, diagrams, and other appropriate resources.
• Encourage students to understand causes, consequences, comparisons, chronology, relationships, and significance, rather than relying solely on memorisation.
• Develop students' ability to:
• Recall factual information
• Explain concepts
• Identify causes and effects
• Compare historical developments
• Interpret maps and geographical information
• Analyse historical events
• Support answers with relevant facts and examples
• Construct well-organised examination answers
• Provide differentiated support to st
