Paediatric Ophthalmologist

The Layton Rahmatulla Benevolent Trust (LRBT) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing curable blindness and visual impairment among underprivileged communities in Pakistan. Serving over 10,200 patients daily and performing 1,100 surgeries every working day, LRBT is the leading provider of eye care in the country, transforming thousands of lives through accessible and affordable healthcare solutions.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site position based in Karachi for a Paediatric Ophthalmologist. The role involves providing specialized diagnostic and treatment services for pediatric patients with ophthalmic conditions. Responsibilities include performing detailed eye examinations, surgical procedures as required, managing pediatric eye disorders, ensuring high clinical care standards, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to improve patient outcomes. Additionally, the role requires a commitment to patient education and mentorship of medical staff.

Qualifications

 

• Expertise in Ophthalmology, including in-depth knowledge of pediatric eye care and common ophthalmic conditions
• Proficiency in surgical procedures and the use of advanced equipment for laser treatments
• Strong foundation in Medicine and Optometry, with the ability to conduct detailed medical evaluations
• Proven ability to work effectively in high-pressure clinical environments, especially with a high volume of cases
• Board certification or equivalent qualification in Ophthalmology, with a specialization in Pediatric Ophthalmology
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with children, families, and medical teams
• Commitment to the mission of providing equitable healthcare services
• Prior experience in a nonprofit healthcare setting is a plus
