Job Context:
In accordance with Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) requirements institutions such as Deutsche Bank Pakistan (DBAG), are obliged to perform KYC checks on all potential clients and related parties at the client on-boarding stage as well as on a regular ongoing basis for all existing clients. These checks and reviews are made in strict accordance with requirements defined by our regulators and internal policy on client adoption.
Furthermore, on-boarding also needs to be conducted in line with other regulatory requirements including MIFID, Dodd Frank, EMIR and FATCA

Your Role:
- The Operations Manager is mainly responsible for oversight and management of employees / teams reporting into and has an expert or deep understanding of the business, process and/or product.
- They are responsible for driving transformation and continuous improvement, leading programmes or projects. They also manage and foster relationships with various stakeholders and/or vendors.
- They create robust management and team structures through rigorous recruitment and people development initiatives, ensuring the team is positioned well to execute a high standard of delivery and results within a controlled environment.
- They are also ultimately responsible as final escalation point for department, controls, key process and risk indicators. They have accountability for budgets, vendor relationship and cost management.
- They lead by example in supporting the Bankwide regulatory agenda, being proactive in the recognition and management of risk, leading or sponsoring change programmes.
- They ensure that key processes and risk indicators, controls, service level agreements and vendor management are adhered to and evidenced; this includes creating a strong culture of risk mitigation and management.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Direct, manage and oversee of the quality of delivery across Client Due Diligence (CDD) teams and direct reports
- Produce metrics / reporting related to department performance, risk quantification and stratification, and resource capacity limitations
- Local demand management and resource planning, ensuring adherence to service level agreements
- Manage ad hoc allocation of priority cases to respective Makers and Checkers and handle the communication to the team
- Acts as a role model in relation to the values and beliefs, internal policies and regulatory requirements
- Ensure all reporting (MIS) meets business, regulatory and internal reporting expectations
- Ensure quality of CDD operations, in line with AFC related regulatory and policy changes and industry
- Assist with monitoring quality and identify training gaps, working with the AML team in delivering ad hoc KYC/AML refresher training
- Manage escalations and handoffs to AFC function
- Build and maintain effective relationships with business managers, AML, Compliance, Credit, Management and other backoffice areas
- Assist business colleagues and Client Onboarding Analysts with solving complex and special issues.
- Work with Onboarding process stakeholders with regards to continuously improving processes
- Provide support to project teams
- Assist and lead on key KYC Operations specific projects and initiatives
- Act as local KYC Ops representative during internal/external audits and KYC related queries
Your Skills and Qualifications:
- Pakistan National, University Graduate
- Fluency in English essential
- Knowledge of local AML/KYC requirements
- Minimum 6 years relevant working experience in a Corporate Bank preferably in an international bank
- Minimum 3-4 years relevant management experience in a KYC/AML on boarding related role
- Strong working knowledge of Corporate & Investment Banking products
- Proven track record of internal / external stakeholder management
- Skilled at working in and flexibly adapting to an international, fast paced banking environment
- Ability to take a risk-based approach and equally balance risk and business
- Strong organization and prioritization skills, profound decision making skills
- Diligent working style, strong analytical skills and solution-oriented problem solving
