Junior Draftsman

Full job description

A reputable civil engineering consultancy in Karachi is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Junior Draftsperson to support architectural and structural projects. The role requires strong technical drafting capability, coordination skills, and strict adherence to CAD and project standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare architectural and structural construction drawings (plans, sections, elevations, details) in AutoCAD (2D).
• Draft drawings at full scale (1:1) and apply correct viewport scales.
• Follow standardized layer naming, line types, and line weight hierarchy.
• Ensure proper dimensioning, annotation, and title block usage.
• Maintain correct file naming, sheet setup, and drawing organization.
• Implement revision control (revision clouds, delta symbols, revision logs).
• Ensure drawings are clean, coordinated, and ready for plotting/issuance.
• Perform self-quality checks before submission.

Requirements

• DAE (Civil) / Diploma in Drafting or relevant qualification.
• 3 to 5 years of professional drafting experience in building projects.
• Strong command of AutoCAD 2D.
• Strong understanding of construction documentation standard.
• Experience in architectural and structural projects.
• Strong attention to detail, coordination mindset, communication skills, teamwork ability, and time management.

Preferred

• Knowledge of plotting standards (CTB/STB).
• Ability to coordinate with engineers and architects.
• Experience working in engineering consultancy environment.

Reporting Structure

Reports to the General Manager (Draftting), with day-to-day coordination under relevant discipline engineers.
