Role: Fractional Chief Sustainability Officer

We’re looking to connect with experienced Fractional Chief Sustainability Officers who can provide strategic leadership in sustainability and ESG across diverse organizations. This role is ideal for passionate and pragmatic leaders who are committed to driving positive environmental and social impact while creating tangible business value.

This opportunity is perfect for seasoned sustainability executives who have a proven track record of developing and implementing impactful sustainability strategies, navigating complex reporting frameworks, and fostering a culture of responsible business practices. Whether you’ve been a CSO, Head of ESG, VP of Corporate Responsibility, or a sustainability consultant with executive oversight, this role offers the flexibility to apply your expertise across multiple high-impact companies.

Key Responsibilities May Include:

• Developing and executing a comprehensive sustainability strategy aligned with overall business goals, industry best practices, and global sustainability frameworks (e.g., SDGs, SASB, TCFD).
• Conducting ESG materiality assessments to identify the most significant environmental, social, and governance impacts and opportunities for the business.
• Overseeing the collection, analysis, and reporting of sustainability data, including carbon footprint, resource consumption, and social impact metrics.
• Guiding the integration of sustainable practices across operations, supply chains, product development, and corporate functions.
• Advising on green finance, sustainable investment, and impact measurement.
• Managing stakeholder engagement related to sustainability, including investors, customers, employees, and regulatory bodies.
• Ensuring compliance with emerging sustainability regulations and developing risk mitigation strategies related to climate change and social impact.
• Fostering a culture of sustainability within the organization through training, awareness programs, and employee engagement initiatives.
• Identifying and evaluating opportunities for sustainable innovation in products, services, and business models.
• Acting as an executive thought partner to founders or CEOs on all aspects of ESG strategy, corporate responsibility, and long-term value creation.

Key Requirements May Include:

• Proven experience in a senior sustainability, ESG, corporate social responsibility, or executive consulting role.
• Track record of successfully developing and implementing comprehensive sustainability strategies that drive both environmental/social impact and business value.
• Deep expertise in sustainability frameworks, ESG reporting standards, climate risk management, and circular economy principles.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to measure and communicate the impact of sustainability initiatives.
• Excellent communication, influence, and cross-functional leadership abilities, comfortable engaging with C-suite, boards, investors, and external stakeholders.
• Strategic thinker with a passion for environmental and social impact, combined with a pragmatic business orientation.
• Prior experience as a fractional, interim, or consulting executive is a strong plus.
