Role: Fractional Bookkeeping Specialist

This role is ideal for financial professionals who enjoy the rhythm of monthly closes and want to support multiple small-to-medium businesses on a part-time, monthly retainer, or clean-up basis.


 

Key responsibilities may include:

  • Transaction Management: Categorizing daily expenses and income in the General Ledger to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Reconciliation: Monthly balancing of bank accounts, credit cards, and payment processor feeds to identify discrepancies.
  • Accounts Payable (AP): Managing bill payments, tracking vendor invoices, and ensuring bills are paid on time.
  • Accounts Receivable (AR): Generatng invoices, sending reminders for overdue payments, and tracking incoming revenue.
  • Financial Reporting: Preparing monthly Profit & Loss (P&L), Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements for management review.
  • Payroll Support: Recording payroll journal entries and ensuring accurate categorization of wages and taxes.
  • Tax Readiness: Organizing financial data to ensure a smooth handoff to the CPA or Tax Accountant at year-end.
  • Historical Clean-up: Auditing and fixing errors in historical data for new clients with messy books.


 

Required qualities may include:

  • Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a relevant Accounting role.
  • Software Certification: Certified ProAdvisor in QuickBooks Online (QBO) or Xero Partner Certification is highly valued.
  • Attention to Detail: An uncompromising standard for accuracy—pennies matter.
  • Tech Savvy: Proficiency with receipt capture tools (Dext, Hubdoc) and modern bill-pay platforms (Bill.com).
  • Integrity: Unwavering discretion and honesty when handling sensitive financial data.
  • Communication: The ability to explain financial queries to business owners in plain English.
  • Prior freelance, cloud accounting, or fractional support experience is a plus.
